T3 Technique was established in 2008, but the history and passion for the Volkswagen Vanagon goes back many years prior. Founder of T3 Technique, Christopher Schimke, has a long history with Volkswagen and a serious passion for the Vanagon.
"VWs are in my blood! My dad worked for Volkswagen for most of his career, and I was always exposed to the latest, greatest that Volkswagen had to offer. But it was the Buses that always captured my imagination. Spending the weekends in a 1974 Westfalia camper and getting to ride in the new 1980 Vanagon made lasting impressions. My first opportunity to drive a Vanagon for myself was in 1985 and I have been hooked ever since. In 1987, I was asked to install a set of custom wheels onto a then new Vanagon. To say that this was a challenge would be an understatement. The customer wanted a set of new (at the time) Mercedes AMG wheels installed, but I wasn't quite sure how to make that happen. Through some trial and error, the wheels were successfully installed and the customer was extremely happy with the results. Upgrading Vanagons has been a passion ever since. 2006 is when the idea for T3 Technique was conceived. Seeing the trouble that people were having trying to fit a set of 15" or 16" Mercedes and Audi based wheels onto their vans prompted me to form a company that could help. The main goal of the company was to provide accurate and easy to understand information regarding these critical wheel fitments and supply quality, reliable parts to go along with that advice."
While the principals and goals that T3 Technique was founded on have not changed, the product line is ever expanding to now include Powerflex suspension bushings as well as many other unique items for the Vanagon. We are always on the lookout for new, innovative products and constantly coming up with new ideas for unique parts for your Vanagon, so keep an eye out for more exiting products in the near future.
